Advocacy

The Student Union O'Diako advocates for the interests of all students at Diaconia. O'Diako's advocacy primarily focuses on ensuring the well-being and legal protection of students at Diaconia University of Applied Sciences. Regional advocacy is conducted in collaboration with other student unions and associations in the area, while national advocacy is carried out in partnership with the National Union of Students in Finnish Universities of Applied Sciences – SAMOK.

O'Daiko-appointed representatives engage in advocacy work within Diaconia's administrative bodies and working groups. Additionally, the O'Diako board regularly meets with Diaconia's leadership to discuss current issues. When necessary, O'Diako issues statements and provides opinions.

O'Diako also offers guidance to students facing problems and organises support persons for negotiations between students and staff when disputes cannot be resolved otherwise.

As a member of the National Union of Students in Finnish Universities of Applied Sciences – SAMOK, O'Diako receives support, guidance, and training related to advocacy. SAMOK is a nationally influential student organisation consisting of 23 different student unions. SAMOK supports student unions to ensure they have the best possible tools to advocate for the interests of their own university students. You can access SAMOK's website here.

If you wish to provide anonymous feedback regarding Diaconia, you can do so through O'Diako's form. Feedback will be forwarded to the relevant parties at the discretion of O'Diako.
