Advocacy

Student Union O’Diako oversees the interests of all Diak students. The emphasis is in well-being and legal rights of Diak students. O'Diako promotes the student interest locally in cooperation with other student unions and nationally with University of Applied Sciences Students in Finland - SAMOK.

Advocacy work is done by representatives appointed by O'Diako in deciding organs and work groups of Diak. In addition, O'Diako Executive Board meet regularly with Diak management and discuss current issues. If necessary, O'Diako will also give statements.

​

O’Diako also gives advise for students in problematic situations and arranges support for negotiations between the student and Diak staff when disagreements cannot otherwise be resolved.

​

As a member of SAMOK, O'Diako receives support, advice and training from SAMOK in advocacy issues. SAMOK is

a nationally influential student organization consisting of 23 student unions. SAMOK supports student unions so that they have the best possible knowledge to promote student interests in their own UAS. You can access SAMOK's website here.
