Join as a member  

 

Joining as a member is possible in the web store.

The membership fee has to be paid when joining. The fees and validity of the memberships can be seen in the online shop.

(A service fee of 0,40€ will be added to all online purchases by the web store.)

Membership is a requirement for having a student card. When joining, the student gives permission to that the student union checks the right to study from the university of applied sciences.

Please be careful when joining. A processing fee of 6€ will be charged when returning possible incorrect payments. Membership fee for ongoing semester will not be refunded in any case.

 

Get a student card

 

All degree students (including Master's degree students) may order a student card that entitles to student price meals, bus and train tickets as well as many other student discounts for various products and services. Other Diak students (e.g. the open UAS) can get a green student card which entitles to many discounts, excluding student price meals, bus and train tickets.

Slice.fi and Pivo offer a digital student card for O'Diako members!

Here's how to get a Slice student card:

1. Become a member of O'Diako or renew your membership in the web store. If you already have a valid membership, check that your information is up to date in kide.app: Log in and click on the pen following your membership. In particular, check that your e-mail addresses, date of birth and student number are correct, as Slice will use this to search your membership register.
2. Download the Slice app from the App Store or Google Play.
3. It takes a short time for the membership to be updated in Slice. After some hours from joining, upload your picture here. You should receive Slice login credentials to your email after upload. Please also check your spam. Be sure to accept the terms of the application and provide the permissions required to operate the student card.

 

Here's how to get a Pivo student card:

1. Download Pivo to your phone and activate it with your online banking ID.

2. Open Pivo, select Student Card and select O'Diako

3. Follow the instructions in the application to create a card for yourself.

The use of Pivo requires Finnish online banking IDs. You can change your picture twice a year.

Plastic student cards can no longer be ordered, but stickers are normally issued for existing cards.

Student card terms

 

When acquiring a card or renewing a sticker on it, the student confirms to meet the card conditions.

 

Blue card terms

 

You can get a blue student card if you meet the following conditions:

1. You are studying for a degree (Bachelor or Master).

2. You are registered as present for the time of your membership.

3. You join the student union (O'Diako).

 

Green card terms

 

You can get a green student card if you meet the following conditions:

1. You study in Diak, but are not a degree student.

2. You join the student union (O'Diako).

 

Data stored about the student

 

When joining, the student gives permission to save the necessary personal details in the member register. More detailed information about saving and processing the information can be found in the privacy policy of the member register.


 

Sticker

If you have an old plastic card, you can still get a new sticker as long as you have valid membership. 

The sticker can be claimed at the O'Diako office (in Helsinki). You must have your student card with while applying for a new sticker. You may also get the sticker by sending your address to info(at)odiako.fi

 

If the card is lost

 

If your card gets lots, you can get the new digital student ID. More information here. The plastic cards can not be ordered anymore.

If your lost card was credit or debit card, please contact the bank that issued the card immediately to avoid misuse. O'Diako don't have access to the payment abilities of the cards.

 

If you change your name

 

If you change your name, inform info(at)odiako.fi about the change (please mention both the old and the new name).

We recommend that you download the new digital student card. We will give the sticker even to a card with an old name, but we don't take responsibility if some organisation refuses to give you discount because your card is not up-to-date.

 

Membership fees and student card validity

 

The membership period offered their validities can be seen in the online shop.

The validity concerns the membership of O'Diako and the plastic student card.


 

Postponement of membership and resignation

 

Postponement of membership

If you are taking a leap year from your studies (you are absent for a semester or an academic year), you can postpone your O’Diako membership until you are present again.

 

Please take notice, that failure to claim your academic year-sticker is not noted as postponement of your membership, but your membership will be valid automatically for the paid time being.

 

The membership can be postponed by sending a formal written request to the info(at)@odiako.fi. If a student is absent for the autumn semester or the whole academic year, the executive director must be informed at the latest 30th of September. If a student is absent for the spring semester, the executive director is to be informed 31st of January.

 

The membership cannot longer be postponed if the student card has the semester or academic year-sticker. Please take notice, that O’Diako uses only Slice or Pivo to recognize its membership. Physical student card can not longer be obtained to be used as a means of identification for the membership.

Renunciation

The member of the student union can quit the membership of the student union by a formal notice to the executive director. If the student has a physical student card, it must be delivered to:

00580 Helsinki.

Without the refund of the student card, the renunciation of the student is not accepted.

The refund of the membership fee

The membership fee will not be refunded if the terms for the membership are still fulfilled. The non-used membership fee can be refunded only if the student has resigned from Diaconia UAS or has graduated. The membership fee will be refunded from the full non-used semesters. The membership-refund can be requested by a formal written notice from info@odiako.fi

If you want your membership-fee to be refunded starting from autumn semester, please deliver your renunciation application and your academic year-sticker (if you have one) and student card to our office, at the latest 30th of September.


If you want your membership-fee to be refunded starting from spring semester, please deliver your renunciation application and your academic year-sticker (if you have one) and student card to our office, at the latest 31st of January.


The membership-fee will not be refunded retroactively.

The student union will claim a handling fee of five euros for every transaction. The student will be provided account of the transaction, if needed. Payments under five euros will not be refunded.
